Bayless Varsity Boys soccer took on conference rivals, the Hancock Tigers, on Friday, September 8th at Heine Meine Field.
In the first half, Hancock scored a goal and took the lead at 1-0. No one was able to make any other moves during that half as the clock was winding down.
After halftime, both teams came back onto the field ready to win the game. Just as the second half started, sophomore Adam Lucas came up and scored the first goal for Bayless, tying up the game 1-1. Hancock didn’t take that goal by Bayless very well and came back to score another goal, to take a 2-1 lead over Bayless. The Bronchos bounced back right away with a beautiful goal from junior Avdo Sahbaz, tying the game up at 2-2. The second half was coming to a close with neither team being able to score. The second half ended with a score of 2-2.
The game extended into a ten-minute overtime to declare a winner. About five minutes in junior Daud Mohammed scored his first goal of the season.
Sophomore Adam Lucas explains, “We could’ve all played better, I think we were just really laid back because we thought we would win without a problem, but I’m still glad we were able to put away this game and say we won.”
